  • Location: Port St. John (Cocoa, FL 32927), Brevard County
  • Date: October 19, 2026

A Big Oak Over the Back of the House

This oak stood in a fenced backyard with its limbs reaching out over the back roofline. In the video, the canopy fills the sky above the house before the first cut.

The climber goes up on rope and saddle and works through the canopy section by section, chainsaw in hand, with sawdust spraying off each cut.

Over the Roof, Never On It

The pieces near the house are tied off before they are cut. When the cut is made, the rope takes the weight and the section swings down past the roof gutter on the line, under control.

On the ground, a crew member guides a large rigged limb down on a tag line, steering it to open lawn.

The Ground Crew

Away from the house, limbs come down into the open yard. The ground crew bucks them with chainsaws, drags the brush clear, and the cut logs go onto the trailer at the curb.

When the video ends, the canopy is off the roofline and the oak is down to its main stems.

Good Questions

Frequently asked

Do you do tree work in Cocoa and Port St. John?

Yes. This job was in Port St. John, in Brevard County. Call 407-253-6291 with your address and a description of the tree, and we’ll tell you what it needs.

How do you cut limbs that hang over a roof?

The climber ties each limb to a rope before cutting it. Once it’s cut, the rope holds the weight and the crew lowers the piece down past the roofline, instead of letting it fall onto the house.

What is a tag line?

A tag line is a rope a ground crew member holds on a limb as it comes down, so they can steer it away from the house, fence or anything else below and land it in open space.

Do you clean up after the job?
