Is it better to trim trees before hurricane season?

What's the difference between trimming and topping — and do you top trees?

We do not top trees. Topping — cutting a tree down to stubs — is harmful; it stresses the tree and forces weak, dangerous regrowth. Proper trimming selectively removes limbs at the right points to reduce weight and wind load while keeping the tree healthy and structurally sound.

Will trimming hurt my tree?
