A Dead Oak Over the House
From the drone, the problem is plain: a bare, grey oak hung with Spanish moss, standing between two homes with a pool and patio right below it, in a neighborhood of green canopy.
Nathan put it simply on camera: it’s a hazardous oak tree that has died.
“Right behind me, what we have here in beautiful Maitland, Florida, is a hazardous oak tree that has died, that we’re rigging out.”
Rigged Out From the Top Down
The climber goes up in a helmet on rope and saddle and works the tree from the top, cutting the limbs and the trunk down in sections. The rigging ropes run through the tree the whole way down.
When the trunk opens up, the cut shows a hollow core. That’s what a dead oak can look like inside, even when it’s still standing.
The Ground Crew and the Haul-Out
On the ground, the crew in orange bucks the trunk sections with chainsaws on the lawn beside the pool. The cut logs go into the red dump trailer.
The before-and-after drone shots close the video: the dead oak is in the first frame, and the skyline over the house is clear in the last.
